Each college holds convocations the day after commencement. Each graduate is recognized by name and walks across the stage to receive their diploma cover. Commencement is the beginning of the celebration for all graduates, their family and friends, faculty/staff and administrators. Dressed in their caps and gowns, graduates walk in a procession to the Marriott Center. The president of BYU and invited dignitaries then welcome the graduates at the Marriott Center.

Each student that participates in commencement and convocation during graduation must wear the appropriate cap and gown. Order yours through BYU Alumni.
Scholastic honors are determined each graduation about 6 weeks before graduation and are for undergraduate students only. Scholastic honors are calculated based on the combined BYU and total GPA of students who have been submitted to graduate.
A diploma shows that you have completed your coursework at BYU. Final grades and coursework are usually posted onto your transcript after graduation.
BYU holds graduation ceremonies every April and August. Graduation includes many events celebrating the graduates and their achievements.
Each commencement begins with an academic procession where graduates and faculty assemble north of the Smoot Administration Building (ASB) and walk to the Marriott Center. All participants should be in their designated area by 3:00 p.m. The procession begins at 3:15 p.m.
