Cap and Gown Information
Each student that participates in commencement and convocation during graduation must wear the appropriate cap and gown. Order yours through BYU Alumni.
Each college holds convocations the day after commencement. Each graduate is recognized by name and walks across the stage to receive their diploma cover. The college dean presides at convocation, and the ceremony lasts approximately 2 hours.
A diploma shows that you have completed your coursework at BYU. Final grades and coursework are usually posted onto your transcript after graduation.

Graduation: What to Expect
BYU holds graduation ceremonies every April and August. Graduation includes many events celebrating the graduates and their achievements.
Graduating with Scholastic Honors
Scholastic honors are determined 6 weeks before each graduation and are for undergraduate students only. They are calculated based on the combined BYU and total GPA of students who have been submitted to graduate.
Meet the President
On the day of convocations, graduates and their families are invited to stop by the Hinckley Center Assembly Hall for a visit with President and Sister Worthen. Cameras are welcome.
