Teaching English Language Learners Program

Admission to TESOL K–12 and Dual-Language Immersion K-12 Teaching Minors

Only students completing teaching programs may enroll in these minors.

The Discipline

Preparation to teach English to children and youth of other languages which involves multidisciplinary course work in a number of areas, including language acquisition; teaching methods and materials; educational programs; and family, school, and community partnerships.

The TESOL K–12 minor focuses on teaching students of limited English proficiency who are in the public schools of the United States.

Career Opportunities

The TESOL K–12 minor meets the requirements, as approved by the Utah State Board of Education, leading to the Utah ESL endorsement. Earning this endorsement will enhance the career possibilities of licensed teachers.
